STANZA is Push/Pull's annual combination poetry and art show. Each year's work is also published in a risograph zine, released on opening day. This year's theme is NON-BINARY and will feature original poetry paired with art inspired by each poem -- all from non-binary and gender non-conforming creators. Join us at the opening reception, Thursday, April 18th, from 6-9 PM, for live readings by some of the poets, snacks, and mingling! The show will be on display through Wednesday, May 16. Art on the promo graphic is by KIRISKA.
GIFT OF SURVIVAL features the work of Push/Pull member Mx Morgan Robles and explores urban wildlife and honors their endurance and adaptation in sprawling urban landscapes while reflecting upon one’s unyielding natural spirit in the face of adversity.
The show opens Thursday, January 18th, with a reception from 6-9pm. Come stop by! Radio is a trans artist in his senior year of high school, working on a thesis project that focuses on portraying the trans experience in art and visual medias.
LIQUID SOLID TRANSFORMATIONS attempts to convey the parts of being transgender that can't quite be explained with words, including both the hard and happy bits. The opening reception is Thursday, March 16th, from 6-9pm. The show will be up through April 19th. To Whoever Even Listen explores the legacy of intergenerational trauma through three generations of letters, writing, medical records, and autobiographical comics.
Weaving stories from the author's grandmother, an immigrant incarcerated in mental institutions, to the author's own experience as trans, Sansei and disabled, this multimedia graphic novel explores themes of memory, truth, and how to love anyways. The show will comprise original illustrations, comic pages, and other work used to piece together the graphic novel, which will also be available. The opening reception is Thursday, February 16th, from 6:00pm to 9:00pm, and the show will be on display for a month. |
