Full house for F#CK THE FOURTH!

7/8/2025

We've been running our  F#CK THE FOURTH event  annually for many years already, but this year's was the busiest by far. Events worldwide, nationally, and locally have darkened considerably since the new year, but we were so heartened to see so much of our community come together on Friday.

And the energy was so good! People filtered in and out throughout the afternoon, writing postcards to elected officials, making zines, and sharing resources. A few new Washington transplants also registered to vote! In the end, we counted over 150 postcards and a half dozen zines on a variety of topics. Amazing! We also gathered a hefty basket of goods to drop off at Ballard Food Bank afterwards!

Thank you so much to everyone who showed up and spent time with us Friday. We hope to keep the activism and energy going with more organising events in the future... keep an eye out! >:)

Loud & Smart & In Color Comic Reading

3/10/2025

What an amazing night!!

Thanks so much to Alex Krokus and all of the other comic artists, both traveling and local, that came to read their work and celebrate the release of Alex's new collection, Loud & Smart & In Color!

Everyone's comics and stories were hilarious, and it was so fun to hear the comics read aloud and laughed at aloud. It was a full house here with amazing vibes and energy all around.

Thanks again to Alex, Deb JJ Lee, Zine Hug, Brandon Lehmann, Boya Sun, and Jackson Barnes, for making great comics and sharing them with us!

Hex the Patriarchy & 11th Anniversary Party

1/3/2025

Picture
Hex the patriarchy! The Push/Pull crew and friends are using this month's show to express rage, frustration, and a need for change in the current political environment.

Using the psychedelic medium of Risograph, artists explore the current state of feminism and gender politics in the face of changes America is currently going through. Come gather and hex the patriarchy with us. 😈

It's ALSO our 11th anniversary party! The last year has been all over the place and we kind of never got to do a 10th anniversary party, so join us for the 11th! Refreshments are provided!

Yasmeen Abedifard: Book Signing & Talk

9/26/2024

Picture
Save the date! We're excited to congratulate Yasmeen Abedifard on her new book and to host her for a signing and talk on October 19th, from 3-5 PM!

Published by Silver Sprocket, WHEN TO PICK A POMEGRANATE is collection of contemplative and cathartic short comics, the pomegranate Anar and the woman Guli exist as reflections of each other — repellent to one another and yet inexorably drawn together once more. As they evolve through each story, proceeding through the stages of the plant life cycle, they take on new roles: muse and artist, gardener and seed, lover and fruit. The iterations reveal new revelations, exploring the themes of shame, grief, destiny, and survival at each turn.

Draw Bugs! Riso Zine Release & Signing

9/3/2024

What an awesome book release! Thanks to all who came out to celebrate RJ's (@beccaquibbles) DRAW BUGS!

And cheers to the trio of kiddos who REALLY wanted to draw some bugs!! (Apparently they walked by the store before the event, saw the chalk art promo, and insisted on returning when it was time!) 💖🪲🐞🦗🐛

This 3-color riso zine is filled with fun bug facts and tips on how to draw them! If you've taken RJ's class of the same name, then you know what's up!

RJ's Draw Bugs! class runs monthly and switches between being an in-person and an online class.

If you can't come to class, don't worry, copies of the zine and beautiful riso prints of many featured bugs are available in-store and online!

Seattle Zine Fest was a blast!

7/9/2024

Picture
We were stoked to be able to participate in the inaugural Seattle Zine Fest this past Sunday! It was held at the old QFC space on 15th Ave in Capitol Hill, most recently used by Punk Rock Flea Market, so the event shared similar punk and DIY vibes. ♥

There was an amazing turnout of Seattle zinesters, both behind the tables and just wandering around. While we regretably couldn't do zine trades (since we represent the work of so many different artists), some folks gave away zines for free, which is always lovely.

It was also nice to remind lots of people who hadn't been by the store in a while that yes, we still exist! We survived the pandemic! We moved from Shilshole to Market St! We have art supplies now!! And so much more art and classes! Come visit us so we can keep on keeping the dream alive!

It got warm in the afternoon, but it stayed cooler inside than outside, so that was nice! Zine Fest organisers also made sure everyone had cold water, which was very appreciated. Great day overall. Nice to see everyone and we hope to be back next year. :)
Missed us at Zine Fest? We'll be at Fantagraphics' Hot Off the Press Book Fair this Saturday, July 13, in Georgetown!

Thanks for visiting us at Punk Rock Flea Market!

6/25/2024

The most recent Punk Rock Flea Market was in the old QFC space on 15th in Capitol Hill, and as always, the team did an amazing job transforming the vacant space into a work of art. We don't know how long it'll be before a new tenant moves in, but in the meantime, it's the community's!

Thanks to all who stopped by and chatted with us about zines, comix, orcas, and art supplies! We're hoping to go to more local events like this so those of you further away from Ballard and can still get a slice of us. ;) We're always available online too though!

Missed us at PRFM? Want to know where we'll be next? Be sure you're signed up for our weekly newsletter!

DAZZLE Book Signing Event!

1/9/2024

Picture
We're excited to welcome writer Andrew Villone for a signing of his comic series DAZZLE, in-store on Sunday, January 21st, from noon to 2pm.

The first three issues of the comic (or four, if you count issue 0!) will be available for purchase at the event. Each issue features work by a unique roster of artists.

Also available will be Are You Ready To Be Heartbroken? which features short stories that take place within the Dazzle world but are separate from the main story. This comic was done as a creative experiment with a very talented young teenager from Kyrgyzstan, Mariia Otunchieva, who completed the whole issue without digital tools.

ABOUT DAZZLE:

Under the big top of a globe-trotting circus fueled by magic and filled with outcasts, dreamers, assassins, charlatans, monsters and angels, a young orphan girl must find both her dysfunctional family and her true self.

ABOUT CREATOR:

Andrew Villone, a native Californian who lived most of his adult life in Seattle, has spent the past two decades living, traveling, and guiding others throughout Europe and the Near East. With a keen sense of adventure and a desire to connect with the unfamiliar, he has witnessed a world most have only dreamt of. These lived experiences and connections made have built the foundation for a world of his own, expertly illustrated and told through the vibrant characters of Dazzle.

None of the other artists involved in Dazzle are American. They hail from all over the globe: Turkey, Mexico, Croatia, UK, Hong Kong and Central Asia. Dazzle is Andrew’s first and only endeavor in the comic book world. He currently resides along the coast of the Adriatic Sea.
