How many pieces is that? FIFTY-FOUR (54)!!!! Books will also be available at Scarecrow Video starting October 19, which also happens to be Video Store Day! Stop in and rent (or buy!) some movies! Maybe grab a title included in our book?!
Save the date! We're excited to congratulate Yasmeen Abedifard on her new book and to host her for a signing and talk on October 19th, from 3-5 PM!
Published by Silver Sprocket, WHEN TO PICK A POMEGRANATE is collection of contemplative and cathartic short comics, the pomegranate Anar and the woman Guli exist as reflections of each other — repellent to one another and yet inexorably drawn together once more. As they evolve through each story, proceeding through the stages of the plant life cycle, they take on new roles: muse and artist, gardener and seed, lover and fruit. The iterations reveal new revelations, exploring the themes of shame, grief, destiny, and survival at each turn.
Seth Goodkind watched every single movie in the "Witches & Warlocks" section at Scarecrow Video, reviewed them all, and invited artists to contribute art related to select movies to compile into a book and art show! Support the Kickstarter to get a copy of WITCH, PLEASE the book! You can also grab a copy of one of Seth's previous works, or maybe spring for a piece of original art included in the book? You have until September 18th to back the project! Save the date, also, for October 19th, 6-9 PM, the book release party and gallery opening at Push/Pull! 🧙♀️🧹 October 19th is also Independent Video Store Day, so be sure to stop by Scarecrow and pick up a movie to watch too! Book Club participants will be invited to contribute visual pieces inspired by the novel to this edition of the book, which will then be available at Push/Pull. Book Club is back! This year, we're reading The Mind of Plants: Narratives of Vegetal Intelligence, an anthology with lots of cool contributors! The book is quite the hefty volume, with each chapter devoted to a specific type of plant. To keep it simple and ease back into book club activities, we'll just be discussing a handful of chapters. In-person meetings will be at Push/Pull every other Tuesday, 7:15pm - 8:30pm, starting April 11th, with the following chapter itenerary:
You can also discuss any of these (or other chapters!) online at any time on our Discord server! Book Club Group ShowArtists are invited to submit work inspired by their favorite chapter(s) for a group show in July. We'll have a group work and peer review/critique/feedback session on June 13th!
