There are lots of ways to make a puppet! You can make friends big or small, simple or complex! It can be an intimidating art since there are so many ways to go about it, but that's why a multi-class series is a perfect introduction!

Opening this Thursday, August 17th is INNER-SECTIONS, a solo show featuring Seattle artist, Melissa Daye. Join us for the reception from 6-9 PM!

Melissa was born and raised in Tucson, Arizona, the daughter of two medical professionals, but, while medicine remained an influence, her love for drawing and painting led her to art. INNER-SECTIONS explores her dual interests of visual expression and anatomy.

Book Spotlight: The Twin Blades

We've got SIGNED copies of the first two issues of The Twin Blades, an action comic that blends sci-fi and Aztec mythology into a story about family, believing in yourself, and magical swords. The Twin Blades is a latine story and is proudly produced by an entirely latine team of creators: Jarred Luján (writer), Julio Suarez (art), Rocco Langg (colors), Gabriela Downie (letterer).

We don't carry a lot of superhero-type comics, but if that's your genre, you should definitely give this one a shot!

Tuesday, August 15-18, 1-4pm daily: Come make puppets! We work hard to keep quality classes affordable while providing fair pay for our artist-instructors, but that means we gotta hit registration minimums! We hate having to cancel classes -- signing up early when possible helps a ton, but if you're a last minute spur-of-the-moment kinda person, this is your sign to go for it! 💖

Tuesday, August 15, 6pm: Join us at Hattie's Hat for Ballard Sketch Team, a FREE bimonthly drawing social! Doodle in your sketchbook and see what everyone else is doodling!

Wednesday, August 16, 6pm: Shrinky dinks are a fun project for kids, but they can also be fun for adults! Crack open a drinky drink and make something cool with your shrinky dink at Shrink n' Drink!

Thursday, August 17, 11am: This is the last Botanical Watercolors until September! Don't wait until the last minute -- commit to come paint something beautiful!

Friday, August 18, 6pm: Relax with fellow artists and refresh those anatomy skills with Figure Drawing at Rose & Orange Studios!

Friday, August 18, 7pm: If getting drinky with shrinky dinks wasn't enough for you, you can get drinky with watercolors at Watercolor on the Rocks. Join Lisa Jordan at Hattie's Hat for a fun cocktail while you paint that cocktail!

Saturday, August 19, 10am: Learn how to use paintbrushes in a whole new way and add depth and richness to your drawings with only a single bottle of ink with Inking: Brush, Washes, and White Space!

Saturday, August 19, 2pm: Still don't know how to pronounce gouache? Don't go another week without knowing -- come to All About Gouache! Aside from the all important knowledge of how to say the word, you'll also learn lots of great ways to use it!
